LGBTQ+ BPoC Health Equity and Advocacy Conference information.

The Health Equity and Advocacy Programme (H.E.A.T.)

In 2021, we launched our original 10-module LGBTQ+ BPoC Health Equity and Advocacy Training (H.E.A.T.) programme, piloting our training programme in the autumn.

The Health Equity and Advocacy Programme (H.E.A.T.) is now a 7-module cultural safety development course for designed to support practitioners engaging with LGBTQ+ Black and People of Colour across Health, Wellbeing and Equality in the UK.

This programme was developed to help facilitate an improved understanding of the key factors contributing to longstanding health disparities for LGBTQ+ Black and People of Colour in the UK.

LGBTQ+ BPoC Health Equity and Advocacy Conference

Our Manchester-based conference is built around our existing LGBTQ+ BPoC Health Equity and Advocacy Training (H.E.A.T.) programme .

Modules 1-3 of the course will be presented on Day 1 and Modules 4-7 would be the key presentations on Day 2.

This course has helped to redefine common misunderstandings of health and help-seeking practices within communities of colour by actively counteracting negative visibility of LGBTQ+ Black and People of Colour and shedding light on key health disparities.

Dates: Thursday 16 and Friday 17 November

Time: 9:30am-4pm (both days)

Tickets: Free

Who is the conference for?

This conference is aimed at anyone working with LGBTQ+ Black and People of Colour across health, wellbeing, and equality.

We will bring together people from clinical services, community health, the voluntary sector partners, social prescribing, local care organisation, and health equalities leads.

If you're unsure whether this conference is for you, get in touch at admin@blackbeetlehealth.co.uk.

What will you learn at the conference?

You'll develop intersectional cultural awareness as part of a transformative learning experience, which will provide you with the skills to better navigate LGBTQ+ Black and People of Colour community spaces.

By exploring key health advocacy skills, you'll gain confidence to challenge inequality and discrimination more effectively and improve their understanding of the importance of health research on health outcomes for LGBTQ+ BPoC.

Through attendance you'll also:

  • Strengthen yourself to identify healthcare needs for LGBTQ+ BPoC
  • Utilise innovative health and wellbeing strategies within both research and your practice
  • 12 CPD hours, evidenced through a certificate of attendance

Note: You'll be provided with a printed workbook pack when registering on the first day. Each module will be a facilitated session with interactive breakout conversation and activities.
